Obituary
Harold M. Davis, 79, of Burlington, died at 1:38 a.m. Thursday, February 28, 2008, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born November 30, 1928, in Burlington, he was the son of George Charles and Julia Nell Ramsey Davis. On June 27, 1950, he married Dorothy Louise Means in Burlington. Mr. Davis was a firefighter for Burlington Fire Department for 35 years. He retired as shift captain/battalion chief in 1984. He was a 1946 graduate of Burlington High School. He was a member of Local 301 Firefighters, Iowa Firemans Association and Fraternal Order of Eagles, Burlington Aerie 150. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Janice K. Gerdom of Burlington; one son, Kenneth L. Davis of Burlington; three grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, where family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p .m. The body will be cremated after visitation. The memorial service for Mr. Davis will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Chapel of Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tom Smith officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. Memorials have been established for Des Moines County Humane Society and Special Needs Foundation.
