Obituary

George Edward Beck, 61, of 2608 Sunnyside Ave., a ticket agent for the Burlington railroad here, and prominent Mason, died at 8:45 pm Friday at Mercy Hospital after a brief illness.
He was past vice president of the Southeast Iowa Shrine club, and a member of Kaaba Temple shrine of Davenport, Knights Templar, the Railroad Veterans association, Rotary and Elks clubs.
Beck, who started working for the CB&Q in 1904, was transferred here from Knoxville in the fall of 1944. He was married July 6, 1945, in Burlington to Mae Faust.
Surviving are his widow; 2 sisters, Mrs. George Allbred, St. Charles, Mo., and Mrs. Lloyd Ogilvie, Anaheim, Calif.: and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 pm Monday in Prugh’s chapel with Rev. Bruce Masselink officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Masonic rites will be conducted at the grave.
