Obituary

Eustachius Beck, 84, retired potter, died suddenly at his home, 109 South Seventh street, yesterday afternoon. He had been ill since Friday but his condition had not been regarded as critical.
Mr. Beck was born in Grosselfinger, Hohenzollern, Germany, Sept. 20, 1848. He came to this country at the age of 18 and located in Des Moines County, about 16 miles west of heron the Agency road, where he became engaged in the pottery business. Burlington had been his home for the past 30 years.
He was united in marriage to Miss Emma Melcher in 1875. Six children were born to this union, two of whom died in infancy.
Mr. Beck is survived by four children, Miss Birdie Beck at home, Miss Edith Beck of Huntington Park, Calif., Ed. Beck of Nichols, Wis., and Mrs. F.H. Mummert of Burlington; one granddaughter, Mildred Louise of Burlington; two sisters, Miss Rosie Beck of Burlington and Mrs. Tillie Huth of New York City.
The body was taken to Unterkircher’s funeral home, where it will remain until funeral arrangements can be completed.
The funeral was at his late residence on Nov. 4, 1932, at 4 pm. Burial in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
