Obituary
Hiram Edgar Beard, 510 S. Garfield avenue, died Sunday morning at 5:30 in Mercy hospital where he had been a patient for the past three days.
He was born in this city, Aug. 30, 1868, the son of Hiram and Elizabeth Beard, and had resided in Burlington his entire lifetime. For many years he operated the Iowa Coal company and in the last few years, he was a cashier at the Drake Hardware company. He was united in marriage Feb. 24, 1892, with Miss Edith Bell Jenkins.
Surviving are his widow; one son, Harold; one daughter, Mrs. Emil Gerdes, of this city, and one grandson, Richard. He was a member of the Masonic lodge, Knight Templar and Shrine.
Funeral services will be held in Prugh’s Chapel Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Rev. Bruce Masselink will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
