Cortes Aldine Baxter, 528 S. Garfield Ave. , 75-year-old engineer for Gardner-Gould Candy company, died at 8 pm Saturday at his home after a 2-month illness. He was born July 15, 1876, at Louisiana, Mo., the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Marcellus Baxter, and was married to the former Ethel Gilleard, Sept. 17, 1901, in Shreveport, La. Baxter, a resident of Burlington 32 ½ years, came here from Shreveport.
Surviving are his widow; 4 daughters, Mrs. A. W. Tripp, Mrs. JR Kelly, and Mrs. ME Kelly, Mrs. BD Fidler, all of Burlington; one son, CJ Baxter, Burlington; and 11 grandchildren and 3 nephews.
Services will be at 2 pm Tuesday in Giles funeral home with Rev. JH Buikema officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
