Obituary
John Baumle, an esteemed citizen of Burlington, passed away this morning at 4 o’clock in his home at 1433 Madison Avenue, where he had lived for more than half a century.
Mr. Baumle was born in Switzerland, Feb. 2, 1841, and was 81 years old. His death was attributed to old age. Although he came to the United States when he was 24 years old, he did not come to Burlington until 1869.
For many years Mr. Baumle was employed as a carpenter for the Burlington route but had been living a retired life for some time. Although he took an active interest in the community life and progress of Burlington, he led a quiet and simple life and his admirable qualities gained a large circle of friends for him.
Mrs. Baumle preceded her husband in death about three years ago, and he leaves two sons, Emil and Herman Baumle, of Burlington, and a daughter, Mrs. JM Peters, of San Francisco, Calif. He also leaves eight grandchildren.
The funeral services will be held from Prugh’s chapel Monday morning at 10 o’clock. Interment will be in Aspen Grove cemetery. Friends are invited to attend.
