Mr. Herman John Baumle, 83, of 617 Harrison, former assistant postmaster here, died Friday at 9 am in Burlington hospital where he had been a patient for one month.
He was born Oct. 17, 1880, in Burlington, the son of John and Maria Baumle. He married Mabel Bewig in Chicago. She died earlier.
He was an active member of First Methodist church where he served as superintendent of the Sunday School for several years. He was a former YMCA board member and council member of the Boy Scouts and former jury commissioner. Surviving are two daughters, Marian Baumle, Burlington, and Dorothy Baumle, Arlington, Va.
Services will be Monday at 2 pm from Prugh’s Chapel, Dr. Dempster Yinger officiating. The casket will not be opened. There will be private burial services in Aspen Grove cemetery.
