The funeral services for John V. Pumroy were held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the home of his sister, Mrs. E.C. Reiss, 1210 South Thirteenth street. Interment was in Aspen Grove cemetery. Mr. Pumroy was born in Burlington June 21, 1887 and was 32 years old at the time of death. He was the son of James and Catherine Pumroy. He enlisted in the United States army June 24, 1918 and remained in camp until he was honorably discharged November 30, 1918. He was a member of Company H., 130th regiment of infantry, second battalion, 88th division. He was taken ill at Camp Dodge during the influenza epidemic and never fully recovered. When he returned to Burlington the Home Service workers of the local chapter of the Red Cross influenced him to enter the Mercy hospital for treatment. Mr. Pumroy was an honest, reliable young man of good habits and was held in high esteem by all who knew him. His parents preceded him in death and he made his home with Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Reiss, South Thirteenth street, Mrs. Reiss being his sister. Besides her he leaves another sister, Mrs. Anna Scharder, of Millersburg, Ill.
