Bonnie Jean Wagner, 87, of Burlington, died at 10:47 PM Thursday, April 19, 2018, at the Great River Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born May 29, 1930, in Burlington, she was the daughter of William and Letha Mester Schmitz. On June 16, 1951, she married Harold L. Wagner in Monmouth, IL. He died on August 29, 2002. She later married Dwight E. Westover on September 23, 2006. He died on September 23, 2014.
She was a 1947 graduate of Argyle High School in Argyle, IA.
Bonnie worked for Champion Spark Plug for 30 years and was an officer with the UAW for many years.
In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling, and was one of the first women in Burlington to ride her own motorcycle with her husband.
She spent many vacations camping with her family and friends at the Cloud Nine Ranch in Caulfield, MO. She also traveled with her husband and Schnauzer to Apache Junction, AZ where they wintered for many years. Bonnie was a great cook, and was most famous for her biscuits and gravy.
She was a member of the American Legion Women Auxiliary, The Moose, and The Eagles Clubs. For many years she enjoyed 4 o'clock Tea Time with her friends, sharing memories.
Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include two sons, Harold (Gayle) Wagner, and Randy (Linda) Wagner both of Burlington; one step son, Marvin (Mary) Merritt of Wenatchee, WA; eight grandchildren, Raemalee (Jim) Voss, Erica (Kyle) Schulz , Amanda (Ben) Sheedy, Chad (Jennifer) Wagner, Randy (Jacque) Wagner Jr., Amber (Ben) Proctor, Cody Daniel, Autumn Daniel; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Charlotte Johnson of Troy, MO, and Loretta Robertson of Danville; two brothers, William Schmitz Jr. of Montrose, IA, and Larry Schmitz of Barnett MO; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, sister, Darlene and daughter, Connie.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.
The family will receive friends from 8:00 AM until 9:00 AM Monday, April 23, 2018 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The memorial service for Mrs. Wagner will be 9:00 AM Monday, April 23, 2018, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Revered Dean Graber officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home following the service. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
