Elsie Regina Carroll, 82, of Burlington, died at 11:38 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2009, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born February 10, 1927, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Guy C. and Ada P. Kimbrough Rodin. On February 10, 1946, she married Robert Edward Carroll in Burlington. She had worked for Sutter Drug Store, Midwest Biscuit, and Iowa Ordinance Plant. She was a 1944 graduate of Burlington High School. She was a member of Flint Hills Church of the Nazarene and VFW Post 10102 Auxiliary. She was an avid reader and Chicago Cubs fan. She enjoyed bowling and spending time with her family Survivors include her husband, Robert, of Burlington; two sons, Robert L. Carroll of Nevada, and LeRoy Carroll of Burlington; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Carl O. Rodin of Portage, IN, Harold F. Rodin of Xenia, OH, and Larry W. Rodin of Amarillo, TX; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers. Visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., with the family to receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home. The funeral service for Mrs. Carroll will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2009, at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, with Reverend Ron Jewett officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Flint Hills Church of the Nazarene. The Hass-Thielen Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.
