Hazel "Mickey" Gibson, 100, of Burlington died 5:20 p.m. February 26, 2011, at Danville Care Center.
Born January 12, 1911, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Thomas Edward and Bertha Pauline (Johnson) McHugh. She married Albert Gibson on July 3, 1937. They later divorced.
Hazel was a bookkeeper for Bi-State LP and Gas and formerly for Yetter Oil Co for almost 30 years.
She was a member of King's Daughters and Messiah Lutheran Church, where she served in the Ruth Circle, on the Mission Committee and Ladies Aid. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Becky (Tom) Wagner of Danville and Trisha (Gene) Horn of Le Claire, IA; daughter-in-law Cass Gibson of Mt. Pleasant; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Teddy and David Gibson; one sister Marian; and one brother, Jack.
The funeral service for Ms. Gibson will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 3rd at Messiah Lutheran Church. The Rev. Susanne Smith will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2nd in Lunning Chapel, with the family to receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Memorials have been established for Messiah Lutheran Church and Danville Care Center.
