Obituary
Carbolic acid caused the death of Charles Yaeger, 65, it was announced last "night following an examination of the stomach content by J. Burton Wahl, chemist. While Wahl has made no official report of the analysis, he stated that the acid was the only thing which numerous tests revealed. Authorities are at a loss as to whether the death was accidental or suicide. Yaeger was found in an unconscious condition on the Burlington railroad right of way south of the railroad bridge Thursday afternoon and it is now known how long he had been lying there. He was removed to the police station where he died less than half an hour later. Coroner Burt Prugh stated last night that in signing the death certificate he would specify "death from poisoning." The proprietor of the Green Tree house where Yaeger made this home for many years, stated that when Yaeger left the house Thursday morning he mentioned that perhaps he might not return. He is believed to have been despondent over continued ill health. Only a small amount of carbolic acid was found in the stomach, but how much was absorbed into the system is not known and cannot be determined. Funeral services were held at Prugh's chapel yesterday afternoon and the body was interred in Aspen Grove cemetery.
