Obituary
John C. Zaiser of No. 5 Cascade Terrace died in Burlington hospital at 4:43 a.m. Wednesday. Death was due to a heart attack, suffered Tuesday. Zaiser was the son of John and Mary Luedde Zaiser and was born in Burlington on Jan. 11, 1893. He was married to Verna Hacker at Galesburg, Ill., on April 9, 1917. Zaiser worked as city salesman for John Blaul's Sons company for more than 40 years, retiring two years ago. Since that time he has worked part-time as Burlington salesman for Rogers Brothers company of Galesburg, Ill., handling fresh fruits and produce. A member of Zion United Church of Christ, Zaiser was also a member of Des Moines lodge No. 1, AF&AM; the UCT; the TPA, and the Flint Hills and Executives clubs. Besides his wife, Zaiser is survived by a brother, Ralph Zaiser, of Burlington, and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers and a sister died previously. Last rites will be conducted at the Prugh Chapel at 2 p.m. Friday. The Rev. John Schultz, pastor of Zion church, will officiate, and burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
