Marshall Carroll Legate, 68, of Burlington, died at 10 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2009, at his home. Born June 11, 1940, in Biggers, Ark., he was the son of Leo C. and Elva Barker Legate. Mr. Legate worked for Wilson Food in Monmouth, Ill., and at Tyson Food in Logansport, Ind. He was a member of Crossroads Full Gospel Ministries, and volunteered at Autumn Heights. He enjoyed hats, was a sports fan, and handed out candy at church. Survivors include one sister, Norma Elliott of West Burlington; two brothers, Melvin H. Legate of Burlington and Cecil Legate of Honolulu; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hass- Thielen Funeral Home in Burlington, where family will receive friends from 9:30 to l0:30 a.m. The funeral for Mr. Legate will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Chapel of Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wayne Ryan officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. Memorials have been established for Autumn Heights and Crossroads Full Gospel Ministries.
