Marie Leona Carlson 91, of Burlington, died at 7:35 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2009, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born November 5, 1917, in Burlington, she was the daughter of George and Lena Smith Sourwine. On August 24, 1941, she married Richard H. Carlson in Burlington. Mrs. Carlson was a telephone operator. She was owner/ operator of Richard H. Carlson Painting and Decorating with her husband, where she was the bookkeeper. She enjoyed fishing and bowling. Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Linda Swanson of Burlington; and one grandchild. The graveside funeral for Mrs. Carlson will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington, with the Rev. Tyrone Henderson officiating. A memorial has been established for the 2nd Floor Nurses of Cardiac/Acute Care of Great River Medical Center.
