Mr. Richard "Dick" H. Carlson, 90, of Burlington died at 6:15 p.m. Monday, February 28, 2011, at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport.
Born January 4, 1921 in Burlington, he was the son of Ernest and Signa Sophia Hamrin Carlson. On August 24, 1941 he married Marie Leona Sourwine in Burlington. She preceded him in death on March 9, 2009.
Mr. Carlson was a Burlington High School graduate. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Mr. Carlson was the owner/operator of Richard H. Carlson Painting and Decorating with his wife Marie. He and his wife also formerly owned Colonial Apartments.
Mr. Carlson was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles since 1941 and served as both president and secretary of Carthage Lake Club. He also enjoyed reading, and watching westerns.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda (Robert) Swanson of Burlington; one grandson, Kirk (Susan) Swanson of West Burlington; two nieces and one nephew.
His parents, wife, two sisters, and one brother preceded him in death.
The funeral service for Mr. Carlson will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 3rd, in Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Terry Vance will officiate. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the time of service.
