Mr. Calvin Knox of Burlington died at 9:10 p.m. on his 59th birthday, Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born July 27, 1957 in Jefferson City, Missouri, he was the son of Willie and Marthella (Stigger) Knox.
Mr. Knox was an automotive mechanic, window washer and worked in restaurants in Chicago. He also worked at KFC, Aspen Grove and the Drake in Burlington.
Mr. Knox was of the Baptist faith. He loved to cook, BBQ on the grill, listen to music and dance. He was a bargain hunter and loved to shop. Making people happy and bringing them gifts brought him joy.
He is survived by his four brothers, Larry (Ruby) Knox, Alfred (Brenda) Knox, Jerome Knox and Danny (Pamela) Knox all of Burlington; his sister, Patricia "Pat" (Earl) Bostic of Burlington; his favorite nephew, Bonehead; and two nephews who were more like brothers, Damon and Little Earl.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Claven and Willie James Knox Jr; two sisters, Anna Harrison Knox and Bertha Gilkey Knox.
The funeral service for Mr. Knox will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 3rd, at Lunning Chapel with Pastor Fred Starling and Pastor John Heyland officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service.
