Mrs. Verna Elsie Zaiser, 71, 5 Cascade Terrace, died Thursday at 6;15 a.m. in Burlington hospital after an extended illness. The former Verna Hacker, she was born in Burlington, Sept.21, 1893, the daughter of Charles and Catharine Gieseker Hacker. She married John C. Zaiser in Galesburg, Ill., Apr. 1917. He died Aug. 10, 1960. She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ, E.C. Blackmar chapter of Order of Eastern Star, Kings Daughters, Burlington Teachers Assn. and the National Education Association. Mrs. Zaiser was a teacher in the Burlington schools for 40 years. Services include a brother, Albert F. Hacker of Galesburg, Ill.; several nieces and nephews. Services will be Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Prugh's chapel with the Rev. John Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
