Mrs. Elsie Ruth Carhoff, 61, 2047 Osborn street, died at Burlington hospital at 9:17 a.m. Saturday where she was a patient for about 8 hours. She was taken to the hospital by police ambulance at 1:10 a.m. She was born Aug. 17, 1893, in Burlington, the daughter of Henry and Hannah Riepe Ramke. She worked at the YWCA cafeteria for 26 years before retiring in September of 1953, after she broke her leg. She was a member of the First Evangelical and Reformed church, the Ruth Rebekah lodge, the Ladies Auxiliary of the B of RT, Women of the Moose, and the VFW Auxiliary. The survivors include one son, Robert Carhoff; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Norris and Mrs. Dorothy Born of Burlington; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one brother, William P. Ramke, of Burlington. The body its at Prugh's Chapel. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
