Laura M. Carlson, 85, of Burlington, died at 12:50 p.m. Monday, November 8, 2010, at Donnellson Health Center. Born October 26, 1925, in Keokuk, IA, she was the daughter of Calvin and Nina Haney Hennings. On March 8, 1947, she married Delbert "Tillie" Oscar Carlson in Cantril, IA. He preceded her in death on February 11, 2010. Mrs. Carlson was a 1942 graduate of Keokuk High School. She worked in Production for Winegard for 21 years, retiring in 1987. Mrs. Carlson was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren, working in the yard, gardening, cooking, music, the Statler Brothers, Gaither Brothers, Lawrence Welk, the Rev. Billy Graham, and the TV show Hee-Haw. Survivors include her children, Larry (Lynn) Carlson and Rick Carlson of Burlington, Randy (Mary) Carlson and Mike Carlson of West Burlington, Linda (Steve Mehaffy) Miller of Burlington, and Danny Hennings of California; 10 grandchildren;15 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Evelyn Atterberg of Carthage, Illinois, Florence Hennings of Fort Madison, and Winnie Koch of Donnellson. Her husband; parents; granddaughter Heather Carlson Nichols; brother Calvin "Bud" Hennings; and sister Eva Hennings, preceded her in death. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 11th, in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 11th, in Lunning Chapel. The funeral service for Mrs. Carlson will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 12th, at Grace United Methodist Church. The Rev. Trevor Davis will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established. Mrs. Carlson's family wishes to express their thanks to the Donnellson Health Center for the care given their mother.
