Dorothy L. Davis, 81, of Burlington, died at 10:58 am Monday, May 28, 2012, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born November 12, 1930, in Keokuk, she was the daughter of Arville E. and Harriet K. Ditton Means. On June 27, 1950, she married Harold M. Davis in Burlington. He died February 28, 2008. Dorothy worked for Witte Drug Store and Burlington Hospital, but mostly as a homemaker. She was a 1948 graduate of Kahoka High School, Kahoka, MO. She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She loved to play cards, and enjoyed being with family and friends. Survivors include one son, Kenneth L. (Jeanne) Davis of Burlington; one daughter, Janice K. (Larry) Gerdom of Burlington; three grandchildren, Jeffrey (Katrina) Gerdom, Amy Davis, and Andrew (Tiffany) Davis; one great granddaughter, Olivia Marie Gerdom and one niece. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents one nephew and one great grandson, Ryan David Davis. As per Dorothy's request cremation has been accorded. Visitation will be from noon until 8:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home. The memorial service for Mrs. Davis will be 10:00 am Friday, June 1, 2012, at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home with Chaplain David Plooster officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the Hass-Thielen community room following the burial. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society or the Klein Center Activity.
