Carol N. Cane, 78, of Chicago, Ill., formerly of Burlington, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, in Chhicago. Born Sept. 11, 1922, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Carl Adrian and Caroline Lindy Nelson. She married Philip R. Cane. He died Nov. 4, 1975. Mrs. Cane worked as a secretary for the Chicago Lyric Opera, in which she was very active . She was of the Protestant faith. Survivors include a close relative, Betty June Lindy of Burlington; nieces; nephews; cousins; and her special friend, Barbara Barnette of Chicago. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday in Prugh's Chapel. The funeral for Mrs. Cane will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Prugh's Chapel, with the Rev. Milo Van Veldhuizen officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the Chicago Lyric Opera.
