Dorothy Lucille Friedman, age 98, passed away on June 26, 2012 in Ft. Worth, TX. Born January 19, 1914, in Mediapolis, IA, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Laura Andersen. She married Dr. Donald S. Friedman on Aug. 19, 1936, in Burlington and was married for 54 years until his death in 1990. In Dorothy's early years she was her sons' scout leader and her daughter's brownie leader. She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church, King's Daughters and PEO, until she moved with her husband to Mesa, AZ., to be near her daughter, Jan, and family. In her later years she moved to Texas to be near her son Dick and wife Maggie who took care of her until she died. Surviving are her two sons, Dr. Richard S. Friedman (Maggie) and Dr. Larry Friedman; her daughter Jan Sterenberg (Jim); Four sisters, Edna, Irene, Margaret, Maryann and one brother, John (Barbara); six grandchildren, Sara, Ben (Gina), Jeff (Holly), Lara (Taylor), Lindsey (Karl), Matt (Lori) and thirteen great grandchildren, CJ, Sara Christina, Courtney, Sarah Margaret, Kylie, Alexis, John, Ben, Beckett, Emma, Kaden, Quentin and Finley. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and Paul, and one sister Emma Laura. Dorothy lived her life as a reflection of her favorite saying, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" and she will be sorely missed by her family and friends A memorial service for Dorothy Friedman will be held in Ft. Worth, TX. on July 25th the Laurel Land Funeral Home at 10:00am and burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
