Obituary
Rodney Lee Hoambrecker, 73, of Monroe, Ga.,
formerly of Sperry, died at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 13,
2014, at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle, Ga.
Born March 6, 1941, in Burlington, he was the son of
Roger A. and Mildred Cable Hoambrecker. He was
raised by his Aunt Hattie and Uncle Walker. On Nov.
24, 1993, he married Barbara Dougherty in Georgia.
She died April 12, 2014.
Mr. Hoambrecker grew up on a farm in Sperry, and
graduated from Mediapolis High School in 1960. He
lived most of his adult life in Georgia, and owned and
operated a commercial carpet service in the Atlanta
area.
He was known for his joking and positive attitude. He
enjoyed boating on the river and water skiing in his
younger years and his pet dogs.
Survivors include one daughter? one son? and two sisters, Joyce and Ruby.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother.
No visitation or immediate service is planned. The body has been cremated, and burial will be at a
later date in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington.
Memorials have been established for the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation (6520 N. Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale, Fla. 30309), and the YMCA Domestic Violence Shelter in Burlington. Tim Stewart Funeral Home in Monroe is in charge of arrangements.
