Obituary

John N. Bauer passed away this morning at 2 o’clock at his home, 1230 Virginia avenue. His death comes as a severe shock to his family and many friends as his sickness was of short duration.
Mr. Bauer was born in Germany, July 25, 1841, and came to America when he was a boy and lived most of his life in Burlington. He was a veteran of the civil war and experience active service.
In 1870 he was united in marriage to Louise Gabrich. To this union were born five sons and four daughters, two of which passed away in infancy; and Henry at the age of 28 years, proceeded him, September 9, 1903.
He was a faithful member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for the past 24 years.
He is survived by his wife and six children George J. Effingham, Ill.; Maurice A., Brooklyn, NY; Mrs. Leonard Rayer, Mrs. August Lee and Ilma and Leon of this city; also five grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Rachel Fizcher and Mrs. William Ortleb.
The funeral services for John N. Bauer will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the family residence, 1230 Virginia Street, with Rev. Mr. Williams, pastor of the Latter-Day Saints church officiating. The GAR will also have services. Friends are invited to come.
