Obituary
John A. Bauer, a retired farmer, died yesterday morning at 4 o’clock at his home, 1011 South Twelfth Street.
He was born in Germany, January 14, 1865, and came to America in 1888, being engaged in farming in this vicinity until his retirement about five years ago. Mr. Bauer has lived in Burlington since returning from a trip to Germany which he took after retiring. He was actively engaged in the work of St. Luke’s Evangelical church, being a member of the board of trustees of that church for four years and of the Sunday school board for twenty years.
Surviving him are his widow, two daughters, Elsie AW Bauer at home and Mrs. Frank R Danielson of Fairfield, Ia., four sons, John L. Bauer Jr., and Carl H. Bauer at home and Lewis J. Bauer and Edward GJ Bauer of Union township and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one child, and a brother and sister.
