Obituary

Henry G. Bauer, a life-long resident of Burlington and formerly a member of the fire department, died suddenly at the home of his daughter, Mrs. FE Mower, No. 2213 South Main Street yesterday afternoon at 12:30 o’clock in the morning.
Mr. Bauer was connected with the fire department for a period of about thirty-five years, and he was well known and highly esteemed by a wide circle of friends in Burlington. He joined the force as a minuteman when he was eighteen years old and left the service about six years ago. With the exception of the last few weeks, during which he was employed in Rock Island freight house, he had worked at the Lagomarcino-Grupe Co. since severing his connection with the fire department.
The decedent was born in Burlington August 30, 1858, being past fifty-nine years old at the time of his death. He was married here about thirty-five years ago to Maria Harper who preceded him in death eight years ago. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. FE Mower of this city; Mrs. FJ Engle, of San Antonio; also by one grandson, Floyd H. Engle.
