Obituary
George K. Bauer, 73, a former Burlingtonian who lived 2 ¼ miles south of New London in Henry county, died at 9:40 pm Thursday in Mt. Pleasant after being in failing health 2 years.
He had worked for more than 20 years as a boilermaker at CB&Q shops in West Burlington and later worked about 5 years for Marray foundry in West Burlington.
Bauer, a native Burlingtononioan, was born July 10, 1878, the son of William and Elizabeth Heyder Bauer, and was married to the former Anna Madsen March 11, 1908, in Burlington.
Surviving are his widow; 4 sons, Roy of Burlington; Herbert of DesMoins county; Frank and William of New London; a daughter, Mrs. Harlan Smith, Jr., Burlington; 2 brothers, Frank of Davenport, and Art of Danville; 2 sisters, Mrs. Joe Westerbeck, New London, and Mrs. Elizabeth Betz, Toledo, O.; 2 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
The body is at Prugh’s chapel. Funeral will be at 3:30 pm Monday at Prugh’s chapel with Rev. GA Edwards officiating. Burial will be at Aspen Grove Cemetery.
