Obituary
Fred Bauer, 70, retired Rock Island railroad employee, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Oscar Sandberg, 401 Swan Street, West Burlington, yesterday.
Funeral services will be held at the Sandberg home, Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock in charge of the Rev. RR Belter, pastor of Bethany Lutheran church. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The body will be taken home from Prugh’s chapel Saturday morning.
Mr. Bauer was born in Germany, Aug. 15, 1850, and came to Burlington 58 years ago. He was employed as a car repairer by the Rock Island railroad for 20 years. He was retired Dec. 18, 1919. Before going to West Burlington to live with his daughter his home was at 1405 Gnahn Street, Burlington. He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his widow and three daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Barrett and Mrs. Herbert Kuenzle of Burlington and Mrs. Oscar Sandberg of West Burlington; one sister, Mrs. Charles Thye of Burlington and five grandchildren. One son preceded him.
