Obituary

Sunday afternoon at 1 o’clock, at the family residence on South Night street, occurred the death of Caroline H Bauer, aged thirty- nine years. Deceased had been ailing for the past two years, and eight weeks ago, when her mother passed away and was laid to rest, it was known that this sick daughter was not long for this earth. Friends knew she was too sick to attend the funeral, but the devoted daughter was determined to go and accompanied the remains as far as Zion’s German Evangelical church. After hearing the pastor’s impressive remarks, who made a touching reference to the sick daughter, she returned to her home, and now after only a few weeks’ waiting, will join the mother on the other shore.
Caroline Bauer was born in this city, in 1859, and has resided here all her life. Until the cold which she contracted about two years ago, and which has caused her death, she enjoyed the best of health, and fire of her friends could boast of a more healthy or rugged constitution. She was at all times ready to lend a helping hand where needed. Besides the aged father, Leonard G Bauer, she leaves two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Schwarz and Miss Lydia Bauer, and a brother, G. Fred, the last-named now a resident of Omaha, but is in the city to attend the funeral.
The funeral will be held this afternoon(Tuesday) from the residence, at 1:30 o’clock, services at Zion’s German Evangelical church, of which the deceased was a most devoted member at 2 o’clock.
