Obituary
The grim messenger caused deep sorrow in the household of another prominent family of this city yesterday. A telegram from Denver, Colorado, announcing the death of Mrs. Sarah M. Cameron, the beloved wife of John S. Cameron, brings sadness to many hearts in Burlington. Her sickness was known to her relatives and friends here several days ago, but glad tidings of her improvement had been received and it was thought that the crisis had been passed, when the telegram announcing her death Thursday afternoon at three o'clock, changed the bright hopes for her recover into deep grief. This affliction comes with additional force with the intelligence of the dangerous sickness of the children, one of whom little Donald is not expected to recover; and ere this may have joined his mother in a world where we hope all this sorrow, the separation of loved ones, will be unknown. Watching over her little children while suffering with scarlet fever, she contracted the disease which proved fatal in her case, as above stated. Of bright and sunny disposition, and with a mind enriched with culture and taste, she graces the home and social circles with sweetness and light, and won the hearts of all who knew her. A native of our city, and the only daughter of Mr. Luke Palmer, she was married January 4, 1876, and her beautiful life was closed at the age of twenty seven years, fours months and six days. The body has been embalmed, and will be brought to Burlington for interment.
