Marjorie Ella Capps, 84, of Burlington, died at 4:45 a.m. Saturday, May 29, 2010, at her home in Burlington. Born January 28, 1926, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Jack William and Frances A. Haugh Haskell. On September 8, 1945, she married Arnold Clark in Galesburg, Ill. They later divorced. On November 26, 1953, she married Richard Capps in New London, MO. They later divorced. Mrs. Capps worked as a supervisor and an associate for Burlington School District for 29 years, retiring in 2004. She also worked for Arion, several other area bars, and recently at Catfish Bend as a security guard. She was a graduate of Burlington High School. She was of the Catholic faith, and was a member of the Eagles Club and AARP. She loved animals, and was an Iowa Hawkeyes fan. Survivors include two sons, Ronald W. Clark of Colfax, and James "Jim" D. Capps of Burlington; three daughters, Marjean S. Vorwerk of Gladstone, Ill, Cyndi A. Eipert of Aberdeen, Wash., and Mary Lou Capps of Burlington; 11 Grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jack C. Haskell of St. Cloud, Fla., and Paul W. Haskell of Springville; eight nieces and seven nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, one brother, and one granddaughter. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday, where family will receive friends following a 5 p.m. rosary service, until 7 p.m. at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home. The funeral Mass for Mrs. Capps will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John Baptist Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Bruce A. DeRammelaere officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will follow at Hass-Thielen Community Room. A memorial has been established for a scholarship for a Burlington High School student of a single parent.
