Funeral services for Joseph Essex, retired policeman who died suddenly Monday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Walter Pierce, in Portsmouth, Ohio will be held at the Unterkircher Funeral home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will arrive in Burlington Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Essex was born June 22, 1882. He was appointed a patrolman Oct. 1, 1926 and retired because of ill health May 19, 1938.
