Henry Cameron, one of the founders of the Des Moines County Hawkeye Natives society, passed away early Sunday morning at Burlington hospital. He had been ill for several weeks with pneumonia and lay at death's door for several days.Mr. Cameron was born in Burlington April 26, 1837, and was one of the first white children born in Iowa. He was one of then children born to James and Salena Cameron, who went from Kentucky to Indiana and in 1835 located in Burlington. Deceased spent his early life on a farm and at the death of his father took the management of the farm. He was successful and prospered. The people of his district elected him township trustee and for several years he was township clerk. He was a member of the Presbyterian church and was an elder and deacon in that church. Mr. Cameron was united in marriage to Miss Emma Sunderland, who passed away in this city fourteen years ago. During the recent illness, hunddreds of friends of Mr. Cameron followed the course of his illness, hoping that the progress of the disease might be checked. Henry Rhea Cameron of Chicago, an adopted son, was called to the bedside several days ago.
