Obituary

Bernard R. “Von” Bates, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., World War veteran, died this morning at the home of his sister, Mrs. Grace McDonald, 2033 Connor Avenue, where he had been visiting.
He had been in failing health for more than 10 years. Born and reared in Burlington, he moved to Wisconsin Rapids 18 years ago. Mr. Bates was born Nov. 1, 1887. He was a member of the American Legion post in Wisconsin Rapids.
Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. McDonald, Mrs. Russell Luckey of this city, Mrs. Pearl Rosenberger of Nekoosa, Wis., and Mrs. Clara Bates of Wisconsin Rapids; two brothers, Marion Bates of this city, and Harry Bates of Wisconsin Rapids. His wife died several years ago.
Funeral services will be held in Prugh’s Chapel Monday afternoon at 2:00. Friends are invited. Rev. JH Buescher will officiate.
