Joanne Louise Cantu, 50, 1601 Osborn St., Burlington, died at 1:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 1997, at Burlington Medical Center. Born Oct. 14, 1946, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Donald and Helen McDowell Trabert. On Dec. 6, 1969, she married Alex Cantu in Big Lake, Minn. He died May 25, 1996. Mrs. Cantu was a housewife. She was of the Protestant faith. Survivors include one son, Ken Gregory of Burlington; two daughters, Rosita Boley and Amy Cantu, both of Burlington; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Richard Trabert of Colorado; and four sisters, Elaine Smith, Deborah Gerber and Carmen Hand, all of Burlington, and Barbara Hobbs of Winfield. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter and a grandson. Visitation will be from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Prugh's Chapel, with the Rev. Paul Benjamin officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the DARE program.
