Obituary
The funeral services for John George Bosch, Sr., who passed away Friday, will be held from the home of his son, John George Bosch, Jr., 421 Mt. Pleasant street, West Burlington, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. Mr. Erdman and Rev. Mr. Rasche will officiate. Friends are invited to attend, Interment will by private. Friends wishing to view the remains may do so after 10 o'clock Sunday morning. Mr. Bosch was a native of Germany, being born there Sept. 15, 1831, and he was 91 years old. After a long and tedious voyage, Mr. Bosch landed in New York in 1854 and came direct to Burlington. On April 19, 1861, he was united in marriage to Miss Susan M. Boeck, and three children were born to this union, August, John and Charles, all living at West Burlington. For the last forty-three years he resided on a small farm where he passed away. He busied himself by gardening and raised excellent fruit. He took great pride in his work. Mr. Bosch was a member of the German Zion church. He was a man of many experiences and one well-versed in all the topics of the day. His great energy, ambition and activity, coupled with strong principals of right-doing toward his neighbors, won for him the respect and esteem of the entire township in which he lived. Mrs. Bosch preceded him in death, August 28, 1900.
