John R. "Bob" Callahan, 65, of Autumn Heights, died 3:30 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 1989, at Burlington Medical Center. Born April 13, 1923, in Peoria, Ill., he was the son of Frederick P. and Louella F. Lines Callahan. He was employed as an insurance marketing field representative with Minnesota Fire and Casualty. He was of the Roman Catholic faith, He was a past exalted ruler of Elks Club No. 84, Burlington, and was a member of the Burlington Police Reserve and the American Association of Retired Persons. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Michele (Roy) Balbort, Burlington, and Mrs. Colleen Roland, Portage, Ind.; one son, Patrick Cable,Halifax, mass.; one stepson, W. Scott Garrett, Orlando, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Joan (David) Weyls, Burlington, and Mrs. Rita (Mark) Carlson; two sisters, Mrs. Virginia Avzaodel, Los Alamitos, Calif., and Margaret Callahan, Long Beach, Calif.; three grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Prugh's Chapel. The service for Mr. Callahan will be 11 a.m. Monday at Prugh's Chapel with the Rev. Michael Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemtery. A memorial has been established.
