Obituary

Cecil D. Canfield, 87, of 2819 Yoder Drive, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 1990, at Burlington Medical Center's Klein unit. Born Aug. 28, 1903, in Chillicothe, he was the son of Frank and Leota Canfield. He married Lillian M. Morris June 6, 1926, in Burlington. She preceded him in death. A graduate of Ottumwa High School, he began his career as a typewriter salesman with the Remington Company. In 1946, he began selling real estate in the Burlington area, retiring from Canfield Realty in 1975, receiving an honorary lifetime membership with the Burlington Board of Realtors. He was a member of the Elks Club and A.A.R.P. Des Moines County Chapter 820. Surviving are on son, Larry Canfield, Burlington; one brother, Kenneth Canfield, Huntington Beach, Calif.; three granddaughters, Crystal Forcucci, Iowa City, Susan Canfield, Coralville, and Julie Walker, Washington; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Sheagren Funeral Home with the Rev. Milton L. Geisler officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the Grace United Methodist Church.
