Marguerite Helen Reid, 80, of Burlington, died at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2006 at her home. Born June 17, 1925, in Burlington, she was the daughter of John Powell and Bertha Powell Hill. On June 2, 1946, she married Jack Reid in Burlington. Mrs. Reid was a timekeeper for more than 23 years at TRW (formerly IRC), retiring in 1983. She was an elder of First Presbyterian Church, member of AARP, and a Brownie and Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed pretty punch, ceramics, rock collecting and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Survivors include her husband; one son, Jack J. Reid of Galesburg, Illinois; one daughter, Linda D. Reid of Burlington; one brother, Leonard Powell of Burlington; three sisters, Alice Gracey, Frances Statter and Irene Doom, all of Burlington; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and two brothers. Chaplain Randy Gearhart will officiate. Following the service, Mrs. Reid will be cremated, and inurnment in Aspen Grove Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Memorials have bee established for First Presbyterian Church and the Great River Medical Center Hospice.
