James Kenneth Campbell, 71, of 1315 Angular St., died at 12:35 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, 1992, at his home. Born Oct.16, 1920, in Birmingham, he was the son of Victor and Gladys Graham Campbell. on April 23, 1948, he married Martha Jane Jameson in Washington. Mr. Campbell retired in 1983 after 33 years as a security guard at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Disabled American Veterans Post 4, the Order of the Purple Hearts, and the Haney Brannam Post of the American Legion in Birmingham.He was a World War II Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Chris Christensen of Portownsend, Wash., and Michael James Campbell of Burlington; two daughters, Tamela Campbell and Jamie Campbell, both of the home; two brothers, Victor Campbell of West Burlington, and Keith Campbell of Ottumwa; two sisters, Marilyn Ertz of Burlington, and Ruth Maddix of Tracy, Calif.; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. David Lukov officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the VFW Post 9162. A memorial has been established.
