Chester H. Avis, 62, of 7004 Reite Ave., Des Moines, a native of Burlington, died in Mercy hospital, Des Moines, Monday, Mar.27. He was born Feb. 28, 1910, the son of Harvey G. and Lena Leicht Avis. Mr. Avis was an accountant by profession. He was of the Lutheran faith. He was past exalted ruler of the Burlington Elks Club.Mr. Avis married Clarissa J. Fausel in Burlington on Oct. 2, 1935. Surviving: The wife; a son, Randall C. Avis of Des Moines, and two grandsons. Funeral: Prugh's Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Rev. Cecil Shepherd; Aspen Grove cemetery.
