Susan Leona Cable, 89, of Burlington, died at 8:05 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, at Great River Medical Center's Klein Center in Burlington. Born July 31, 1914, in Augusta, she was the daughter of Lewis Eugene and Elma Nelly Buxton Williamson. On Oct. 17, 1936, she married Walter J.V. Cable in Mason City. He died Sept. 14, 1946. Mrs. Cable worked as a secretary to the maintenance supervisor of Midwest Biscuit Co., retireing in 1983. She was a 1931 graduate of Burlington High School. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Burlington, the Sarah Circle and Bible study. She was an excellent seamstress and made costumes for theatrical groups and other organizations. She was a member of RSVP and volunteered at Planned Parenthood and the Chamber of Commerce. Survivors include one nephew, Richard H. Williamson of Burlington, and three nieces. Nancy Vaughan of Burlngton, Karen Underhill of Dubuque and Kathy Cusick of Mexico, Mo.Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Lunning Chapel in Burlington, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Cable will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Tevis officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington. A memorial has been established for the American Heart Association.
