Walter D. Camp, 86, of Burlington, died at 2;30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born Jan. 16, 1918, in Reinbeck, he was the son of Charles C. and Dorothy D. DeWolf Camp. On Nov. 24, 1940, he married Jean M. Hugg in Burlington. She died Oct. 26, 1975. On Oct. 24, 1981, he married Jeanette A. Pitzer in Burlington. Mr. Camp owned Camp Superior Cleaners for 36 years. He was a member of St. Luke United Church of Christ and served on the church board, Shutterbug Camera Club, Rotary, and was past president of Illowaimo Unit of WBCCI Airstream Club. He was a Boy Scout leaser at Grimes School and chairman of the 100th year anniversary of St. Luke UCC. He was a World War II Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife; one son, David C. Camp of Burlington; one daughter, Deborah Sommer of Morton, Ill.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one grandson. Visitation will be from 1 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Prugh's Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Camp will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Vicki Engelmann officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for St. Luke United Church of Christ.
