Robert C. Camp, 83, of Burlington, died at 8:25 p.m.Sunday March 2, 1997, at his home. Born April 3, 1913, in Reinbeck, he was the son of Charles C. and Dorothy DeWolf Camp. On June 7, 1942, he married Virginia King in Burlington. Mr. Camp graduated from high school in San Diego, Calif., and attended San Diego State College. He was a World War II veteran, serving in Quartermaster Corps. The Camp family established Camp Laundry and Dry Cleaning Plant of Burlington in 1934 until its closing in 1974. His hobby was horticulture. He was a 50-year member of First Presbyterian Church of Burlington, serving as elder and deacon, member of men's club and Explorer Mariner organization of the church. He was a 50- year member of Burlington Kiwanis Club, served on the board of Directors of Salvation Army, member of Kennagers and Des Moines County Historical Society. Survivors include his wife; one son, John Camp of Morris, Ill.; one daughter, Nancy Gibbs of Newtown, Pa.; five grandchildren; one brother, Walter D. Camp of Burlington; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will begin after 1 p.m. Wednesday in Prugh's Chapel. There will be no formal visitation. The funeral for Mr. Camp will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. Forrest and Sue Krummel officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for First Presbyterian Church.
