Obituary
Norma jean Callison, 80, of Burlington, died at 9 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at her home. Born Sept. 27, 1924, in Sewel, she was the daughter of J.D.S. and Iva Ruttur Beary. On July 20, 1946, she married Carlton W. Callison at Hiwatha, Kan. Mrs. Callison taught school and was a secretary in Kansas City during World War II, but spent most of her life as a homemaker. She attended First United Methodist Church of Burlington and was a member of Ruth Circle of Church, T.T.T. Society, Federation Woman's Club and King's Daughters. She graduated from Powersville High School at Powersville, Mo., and North East Missouri State Teachers College at Kirksville, Mo. She enjoyed playing bridge. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Gary Carlton Callison of Cedar Rapids and Bruce Beary Callison and Bradley William Callison, both of Burlington; one daughter, Barbara Jean Frank of Dover, N.H.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Thomasene Shriver of Kirksville, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one nephew. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Callison will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dennis Tevis officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established to First United Methodist Church and Great River Hospice.
