Mrs. Mary Jane Ferrier Barr, widow of James Barr, died at her home in Mediapolis last night at half-past eight o’clock. Mrs. Barr was eighty-eight years old last June. She was born in Londonberry, Ireland. She was married in Philadelphia on April 22, 1849, and soon after the wedding moved to Iowa where she and her husband resided for ten years. They then moved to Philadelphia where they lived one year, after which they returned to Iowa, locating on a farm near Pleasant Grove, where they were long respected and valued residents of Washington township. They resided there until 1893 when they moved to Mediapolis. Mr. Barr died on February 5, 1896. Mrs. Barr was a faithful member of the Presbyterian church of Mediapolis and her loss will be keenly felt. Mr. and Mrs. Barr had two children, Edward W. and James F. Barr, both deceased. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mrs. James F. Barr, of Burlington, and three grandchildren, Edgar J. Barr, of Council Bluffs, son of Edward Barr, and Mark C. and Lillian M. Barr, of Burlington, children of James F. Barr.
The funeral services will be held at her late home in Mediapolis tomorrow (Thursday) morning at ten o’clock. The interment will be private and will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington.
