Obituary

David G. Butts, 69, of West Burlington, died Friday, March 18, 2016, in Saint Augustine, FL.

Born September 2, 1946, in Ft. Madison, he was the son of Howard Glenn and Betty Jean Boyles Butts. On February 27, 1988, he married Barbara Kay Rowe in Burlington.

David worked for Federal Mogul in the Champion Spark Plug Division for 39 years.

He graduated high school in 1964 in the first graduating class of West Burlington.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.

He was a member of VFW 10102, Abate of Iowa, NRA, and Wildlife Forever. He was an avid sportsman, camping in the RV, traveling, loved his Harley's and spending time with friends and family.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Brendan Butts, Damian Butts both of Burlington, David (Sheri) Beckham of Gulf Breeze, FL, Michael (Amy) Beckham; one daughter, Lisa Miller of Charlotte, NC; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five sisters, Sandra (Ken) Carpenter of Palm Coast, FL, Bonita (Jerry) Cokel of Media, IL, Karen West of Burlington, Linda (Randy) Carpenter of Carman, IL, Margie (Kim) King of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William Butts.

The memorial visitation for Mr. Butts will be from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home & Crematory with full military honors rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.

A memorial has been established for the Wounded Warriors.
