Garten Melvin Callaway, 77, of 1139 Washington, died Saturday in Mercy hospital after a brief illness. He was a retired steam boiler fireman for the Burlington Power & Light Co. Mr. Callaway was born MAr.4, 1890, in Sperry, the son of Andrew and Mary Marrick Callaway. Nov. 17, 1925 he married Emma TenEyck in Burlington. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Barracks 1101 of World War I Veterans. Surviving: The wife; a son, George, of Burlington; two grand-daughters; a sister, Mrs. Rhoda Overly, of Mt. Pleasant; and a number of nieces and nephews. Three brothers and two sisters are dead. Services: Tuesday, 9 a.m.. St. Patricks Cathlic church, Aspen Grove, with graveside rites by World War I Veterans. Rosary in Prugh's chapel Monday at 7:30 p.m.
