Neola Noreen Salmon, 87, of Burlington, Iowa, died at Great River Hospice House, West Burlington, Iowa, on Tuesday, April 1, 2014.
Born on March 22, 1927 in Moulton, Iowa, she was the daughter of Orley and Hazel Kirby Purdum. She married Leslie Olin Salmon on February 5, 1949 in Burlington, Iowa. He died on February 14, 2004.
Neola was a homemaker. She loved her Pomeranians, cooking for her family and the company of others. She had a knack for growing and caring for her flower garden, especially hydrangeas. She was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by three daughters, Beverly (Robert) Brookhiser of Danville, IA, Cindy (Thomas) Lambert of Burlington, IA and Brenda (Tim) Distelhorst, of Burlington, IA; one son, Rick (Jane) Salmon of Burlington, IA; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; four sisters, Virginia, Carol, Shirley and Mary; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and two sisters.
Private Committal services for Neola Noreen Salmon will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery. No formal visitation is planned.
In lieu of flowers memorials have been established for the Des Moines County Animal Shelter and St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry.
